Song Description:
Someday is an epic ballad that proclaims the message of the returning King of the universe. The song begins with a reflective moment of the believer pondering on what it will be like when Christ returns. The excitement builds in the second verse as the musicians and singers come together and reflect on the returning savior - the reflection transforms into an anticipated reality of worship as the string orchestra enters with an intense crescendo.
The Chorus is a sing-along anthem that you can envision an entire church singing with the joy and the promise of Jesus' return.
The vamp of "Someday" invites you to realize various actions that will occur, once we finally enter heaven. The phrase "We will praise his name forever" saturates the listeners mind and the music builds to the grand finale - Someday!!!
This song was written over the period of two years. It was first a simply melody that Niya was given by God. She sent a voice mail to Roy Cotton (her producer/co-writer) with the melody and he immediately recorded it onto his music workstation. During Thanksgiving of 2002, the Lord gave Roy the words to Niya's melody and the body of the song was finished. The problem was that Niya and Roy didn't feel like the song was complete.
They recorded it with Andrae Ames at Hampton University in Fall 2003 for a music engineering project. However, Roy wasn't pleased with his production and still didn't feel like the song was complete.
Roy went back home to Texas and heard a melody that his brother, Justin, was singing while playing at their piano. Roy asked Justin "What song is that - did you write it?" Justin said that he didn't know what the song was for but he knew that God gave it to him. And the rest is history! Justin's melody and words - "We will praise His name forever", became the finishing touch on the symphonic ballad, "Someday"!
